HOPEPUNK - Trailer (English)

Shownotes

Hopepunk is a podcast about hope as a choice in the face of adversity. Hope - meant as an activating force, not wishful thinking.

The term Hopepunk was originally coined by fantasy and science fiction author Alexandra Rowland, who in 2017 wrote a tumblr post simply stating, 'hopepunk is the opposite of grimdark. Pass it on.' Grimdark is a particularly dystopian subgenre of science fiction. HOPEPUNK doesn’t negate that dystopia exists. But it says: in the face of it, choosing kindness becomes a radical act.

It is my intention with this podcast to shine a light on the people, projects and places that embody hope-inspired action. What is the meaning of hope for us personally, - in the face of illness or loss, for instance? And given the current state of the world, how does hope - or the lack thereof - shape our politics and society today?
Each episode will feature an issue, or a guest. What drives them, and what are they working on?
Stay tuned to find out.
